Overview
For thousands of years, trade routes such as the Silk Road, the trans-Saharan routes and the Indian Ocean network carried goods, ideas, religions and technology between Asia, Africa and Europe. People migrate for many reasons. Push factors, such as drought or conflict, drive people away; pull factors, such as work or safety, draw them somewhere new. Cultural diffusion is the spread of language, belief, food and technology between societies.
